Roomate search frustrations
Not getting bites on my roommate ad responses in Berlin. Suggestions for finding a flat here, anyone? I'm looking for a short term stay (2 months) which is likely part of the problem.

If Berlin continues to be problematic for finding a good place, then the search widens to Prague and Tallinn.

Your google-fu has probably already turned this up: http://www.toytowngermany.com/lofi/index.php/t56354.html

What's your price range? These prices look high to me but I have never looked for a short term flat before.

No specific price range, though one reason I chose Berlin was it's reputation for having good values in the housing market. If this turned out to be false, either of the other options would supply. Though actually, Berlin is beating Prague for cheap rent. Rather, Kreuzberg is beating Prague 1. An unfair comparison of neighborhoods, but that's what my google-fu is turning up for each.

I got one offer this morning, for a single bedroom in Treptower Park for 340 euro/mo., utitlities included. Even Internet and coal. Coal! Oh, East Germany. You're so steampunk.

That's a much more reasonable price! And yeah, coal! What could go wrong?

Explosions. Giant metal robots. No, wait, that would be cool!

Precisely.

I'm still hoping for a mysterious visitor in a monocle, full length jacket, with a bandoleer of brass and clockwork devices.

The explosions and giant metal robots comment was from [info]kuenai masquerading as a toad, btw. Though I wish I had said it. I'm picturing your mysterious visitor as some sort of glowing life-sized Ampelmann.
